While it's true that you can pick up exceptional bargains at a car auction, you really need to know what you are doing to be successful. It's definitely advisable to 'experience' the process as a spectator first and observe what happens in a detached frame of mind.
If you don't know much about cars, it's vital that you take someone you trust with you who does. Decide beforehand the maximum bid you can afford and stick strictly to it.
There will be an entry form attached to the windscreen which will give you a guide to the car's history.
If the seller issues a disclaimer, your usual rights (see Buying From a Dealer ) may not apply. The term "sold as seen", excludes all or some of these rights. Read the auctioneer's conditions of business carefully.
